1. If you have a pen name, can you explain how you came up with it?
It wasn’t my intention to use my own name when I began writing, but after the success of my entry in So You Think You Can Write 2013, which resulted in publication, using my name seemed the best option.

2. What are a few things we would find in or on your desk?
I have several go-to books, The Emotional Thesaurus and Kate Walker’s 12 Point Guide, an assortment of post-it notes and my wise owl, something I bought just before I became published and has become my good luck charm.

3. What motivates you to write?
I know most writers say this, but write because I have to. Stories play out in my mind and I can’t help but write them down.

4. Share something about yourself no one else knows?
I’m a big baby when it comes to theme park rides, preferring to stick to the carousel or at a push, the dodgem cars.

5. Tell us about your book...
Claimed by the Sheikh is my second book for Harlequin Presents and is about a marriage of convenience which has gone wrong, but one that has to work. When Kazim finally finds his runaway bride, she is working in a club in Paris. As he prepares to return to his kingdom of Barazbin with his wife, he doesn’t anticipate the fierce attraction between them, one which awakens things from his past he'd thought long since buried.

Claimed By The Sheikh

Banished!

Princess Amber's arranged marriage to Prince Kazim Al-Amed of Barazbin was a dream come true—for her, at least! But then their wedding night went spectacularly wrong, and a furious Kazim banished Amber from his kingdom and his life…

Hunted!

Now, with his country in turmoil, Kazim must prove his ability to rule and provide an heir for his people. But to do so he'll need to track down his princess.

Claimed!

Amber has always threatened Kazim's tightly held control. Yet if he is to save his nation—and his marriage—he must finally make the ultimate claim…on his wife!

  10. I really like the idea of writing because you have to. That little phrase proves that Rachael's book will be a fun read, because it comes from the heart.

  11. I also prefer a nice, calm Disney World ride over a roller coaster anytime! Great interview! Best of luck, Rachael!
