Over to Robyn now...
They always say, write what you know and I do believe it’s great advice.  But I’d like to add my own little addendum.  Just because you know it, doesn’t mean you have to like it in order to use it.  In this case, I’m talking about camping.  My father loved camping, and all the vacations I went on as a child involved camping.

Although I’m very grateful for the opportunity to have traveled extensively across the United States, I am SO over camping.  It doesn’t matter that most of the camping trips were with a nice big trailer.  There’s still the icy cold nights, even in the middle of the summer, the primitive outhouses, or lack of even those, the bugs, the bears, the dirt, and it never fails, when you’re camping in a tent, it rains… I could go on and on, but I’ll save you the whinging.

All of this experience did come in handy for writing Paisley and Sterling’s foray in the wilderness, and though I’m sure I could have written extensively about how someone like Paisley, who had never been anywhere so primitive, might feel about all the nasties of it, I decided to focus on other aspects of the story.  Fun stuff, like kissing.  I’ll save the drama of camping for another story.  And maybe I’ll have the hero be the one who has problems with it!

Her Knight In Shining Armour

She may not need a knight in shining armour to save her, but that doesn’t mean she’s going to look a gift knight in the visor...

Paisley doesn’t need a knight in shining armour to rescue her from her high-powered, abusive ex-husband. She’s got it covered on her own: she's changed her name, liquidated her assets, and has a plan to disappear in the Rocky Mountain National Park.
Psychiatrist Sterling James has absolutely no intention of being anyone’s saviour. The only woman he has any time for is his sister. But circumstances change when Sterling finds Paisley in an unexpected and life-threatening situation. Brought in to the drama of her escape, Sterling finds himself invested, and he can't move on until he knows Paisley is going to be safe.

It should be a simple enough exercise to get Paisley out of the park and into her new life. But nothing is ever as simple as it should be, and Sterling soon discovers that even if her ex-husband buys the set-up, he might not be able to watch Paisley go...

    1. Thanks for stopping by Mary Anne! It's great to see you again. I recognize your picture from the Harlequin Boards a couple years ago! Arkansas Annie, per chance? Love me some good guy romance stories myself. :D

    2. Robyn: Wow, you got quite a memory! Yes, I'm the same Arkansas Annie. Nowadays I don't hang out on message boards and blogs as much as I used to because I'm spending more time writing. But I haven't gone entirely offline. Nowadays, who can?

  5. I never could take to camping myself. Sure, it has its moments, but I have never enjoyed roughing it.

  6. The book sounds great! I can't say I'm much of a camper, either. I never sleep, which makes me grouchy and unable to really enjoy nature.

  7. Great character names! I've used both those in older stories I've written.
I can relate about the camping. I just returned from a camp trip and I was ready to come home. It's wonderful, but it gets old fast. lol
