Intro- I'm the author of...
I’m the author of Illicit Italian Nights, which is my 97th book for Harlequin Mills and Boon.

My life:

As soon as I learned to read, I dreamed of being a writer. I’ve heard it said that most writers don’t necessarily know they want to be a writer but rather they discover that that are one. I think both of those things are true for me. I can’t remember a time during my childhood when I didn’t get excited about writing a story for school or poetry in high school. I even had a poem published in an anthology of young people’s verse and at the book launch met the most amazing writers.

Influences:
Now I’m going to show my age as most of them have left us now. Donald Horne, Thea Ashley and the poet Les Murray. He was a great big teddy bear of a man and was so encouraging to us all. I felt at that launch that I had stepped over a threshold into the mystical world of writers and I knew deep in my bones that I belonged there. It was not arrogance or hubris but a firm conviction that I was meant to write.

How I write:
My writing process has changed quite a bit over my career. I used to be a pure pantser, i.e I would launch into a story with no plan or idea of what would happen when but somehow it would come together at the end. That process worked fine for the first twenty novels but then I found myself writing myself into corners or sensing something was wrong with my story but not knowing how to fix it. Then I had the privilege of attending a Robert McKee Story workshop. It was so inspiring and educational, I attended another one, plus about three of Michael Hague’s workshops. But I would have to say the biggest influence on my writing was doing the wonderful Margie Lawson’s Deep Editing Workshop and then four of her Immersion classes, two of which I hosted at our beach house. I would encourage any aspiring and emerging and even established writer to do her classes. You can never over educate yourself as a writer.

Motivation- Why I write:
I write because I love creating stories that entertain people. I write because I’m intrigued by the magical process of creating characters and then feeling them come to life as I begin to type their names. I write because my brain conjures up story ideas as I go about my everyday life. Oh, and I write because I have a contract hanging over me!

She’s off-limits…
And the Italian is unraveling!

When her baby niece needs her, Addison Featherstone has no choice but to turn to Ludovic Jacobetti for help. Not only is he the infant’s godfather; his private jet can take them to Italy. There’s just one complication: playboy Vic has long been the object of innocent Addie’s deepest desires…

As his friend’s sister, Addie is entirely forbidden to Vic. Yet when they're alone in Lake Como, he’s forced to acknowledge she’s more alluring than he’s ever allowed himself to notice… And once the sun sets, their chemistry doesn’t simply become intoxicating—it’s irresistible!
