Intro on: Helen Lacey, Her Secret Texas Valentine & Giveaway

This week we are bringing author Helen Lacey. She has a new book out: Her Secret Texas Valentine (The Fortunes of Texas: The Lost Fortunes). 


And she has just signed a TV Movie deal for her earlier Fortunes book, A Fortunes of Texas Christmas (The Fortunes of Texas)!

Helen Lacey grew up reading Black Beauty, Anne of Green Gables and Little House on the Prairie.

These childhood classics inspired her to write her first book when she was seven years old, a story about a girl and her horse. Her parents' love of travel meant she saw much of the world in those early years and she feels fortunate to have had a diverse and interesting education over several continents.
She continued to write with the dream of one day being published, and becoming a Harlequin Special Edition author is the realization of that dream. She loves writing about tortured heroes—both cowboys and CEOs—and heroines with gumption who finally get their men.

From Welsh parents and a large family, Helen lives on the east coast of Australia in a small seaside town at the southernmost point of the Great Barrier Reef; she lives with her wonderfully supportive husband, many horses and three spoiled dogs.

What is your writing Kryptonite?

Time…never feeling as though I have enough of it. I work a full time day job managing a busy furniture store and also write full time, so juggling the two, in between family life, friends, plus five horses, three dogs and two spoiled ragdoll cats, sometimes I wish there were simply more hours in a day.

Did you ever consider writing under a pseudonym?

Not really. Perhaps if I branched out into another genre I might. But since my heart will always be with writing contemporary romance, I’m happy to keep using my name.

Her Secret Texas Valentine is out now from Harlequin Special Edition. It’s part of The Fortune’s Of Texas continuity and I absolutely loved writing about Jake and Valene. They meet via a dating app, and he seems perfect – handsome and charming, but also a penniless ranch hand. Of course nothing is ever as it seems.
