We have author Katie Rose with us talking about Alpha Males, and her latest release The Heat Of The Moment.
Not Another Alpha
So Alpha males are all the rage today. Long before 50
Shades, we were all into tall, dark and dominant. But can other types of men be
a romance hero?
You bet. Gavin King in THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT isn’t a
traditional Alpha. Yet I think he would give any of those heroes a run for
their money. Here’s why:
1.
Gavin has a tough woman on his hands. Jessica
Hart is a tomboy, who has had her heart broken by a baseball player. She’s his
physical therapist, and determined not to get involved. But when Gavin sees
what he wants, he goes for it. Hot.
2.
He doesn’t order women around, or humiliate
them. Yet when it comes to sex, he isn’t satisfied until she screams. Hmmm.
3.
Gavin and Jess start out as friends. He uses
their time together to learn more about her, what’s important to her, her
hobbies and her family. A guy that cares? Sexy.
4.
Jessica’s brother is protective of his baby
sister after her previous heartbreak. So he grills Gavin, wanting to know where
his head’s at. Gavin tells him quite honestly that he is attracted to Jessica,
and intends to pursue her in spite of the obstacles. The man has cahones. Love.
5.
He’s kind
of a laid back hero, but when another player talks smack about his girl, he is
ready to kill the guy. Hot.
6.
Gavin also doesn’t take a lot of crap from the
heroine. When Jessica attacks him at her family’s picnic for no reason except
she’s attracted to him, Gavin responds by kissing her. Yumm.
7.
Jessica doesn’t think she’s Gavin worthy. She’s
been cheated on before, and she isn’t a model/actress, the kind of girl these
athletes go for. But Gavin makes her feel beautiful and special, which she is.
Sigh.
8.
When his ex-model girlfriend shows up now that
he has recovered from his injuries, Gavin has no interest. He realizes what he
has with Jess is so much better, and thinks she is just as gorgeous. Love.
9.
When Jess runs to the Jersey shore, Gavin hunts
her down. He knocks down the barriers between them, and won’t let her hide.
Adore.
10.
So there is a lot to love about heroes who think
outside the box. Gavin is that kind of hero. My kind of guy.
The Bad Boys of Baseball are back! In Katie Rose’s sweet, sparkling novel, the newest New Jersey Sonic falls for the woman who’s trying desperately to save his career.
Physical therapist Jessica Hart has learned her lesson: Never date professional athletes. She’s been down that road, and barely recovered after the relationship crashed and burned. Then Jessica meets Gavin King. An All-Star slugger with chiseled good looks, Gavin was traded to the Sonics because he hurt his knee sliding into second, and now his future is in her hands. Gavin’s no bad boy—but he’s tempting enough to make Jessica think twice about all her rules.

Gavin is trying to find a comfortable routine. If he wants his old life back, he must take it easy, stay out of the limelight, and keep his distance from gorgeous redheaded physical therapists. The thing is, Gavin isn’t the kind of guy to sit on his ass and let other people pull his weight. And when he sees something he wants, he can’t help but fight for it, even if it means risking everything, even if it only lasts a single moment: like one kiss from Jessica.
