Welcoming Carmen Falcone to Romance Reader today!
Carmen Falcone learned at an early age that fantasizing about fictional
characters beat doing math homework any day. Brazilian by birth and traveler by nature, she moved to Central Texas after college and met her broody Swiss husband, living proof that opposites attract. She found in writing her deepest passion and the best excuse to avoid the healthy lifestyle everyone keeps talking about. When she is not lost in the world of romance, she enjoys spending time with her two kids, being walked by her three crazy pugs, reading, catching up with friends, and chatting with random people in the checkout line.
Over to Carmen now...
Just yesterday, a mom from my daughter’s preschool pulled me to the side and asked, “So. Who is he? Who is Sexy Dad? I’ve been looking around to find who inspired you, but no luck so far.”

Ordinary, Schordinary
Just yesterday, a mom from my daughter’s preschool pulled me to the side and asked, “So. Who is he? Who is Sexy Dad? I’ve been looking around to find who inspired you, but no luck so far.”
I chuckled. She was talking about
the hunky hero of my novella, A NIGHT OF MISBEHAVING. Brent, aka Sexy Dad, is a
divorced and caring father, a successful gym owner who carries the burden of looking like Ryan Gosling. He’s a fictional
character, but he could be real. In fact, one of my main goals writing the
novella was to bring out relatable characters that we could see in our ordinary
life.
Don’t get me wrong, I adore writing
and reading about yummy tycoons, CEOs, billionaires, you name it. Isn’t it nice,
though, sometimes escape from our reality and –gasp—find the book boyfriend in
a realistic context?
If
you read the entire short story, you can judge for yourself J
A NIGHT OF MISBEHAVING
For just one night, Georgia Taylor wants to forget about her demanding job and the everyday struggles of being a single mom. Her track record with men is pitiful, but that’s fine because her responsibilities don’t leave room for love anyway. The new online dating site is perfect for what she’s after.
But Georgia’s plans are crushed when Brent Turner, aka Sexy Dad and father of her daughter’s classmate, turns out to be her internet date, therefore, eliminating any possibility for a night without consequences.
All of Brent Turner’s honorable intentions fly out the window when he sees highly strung “Super Mom” waiting for her date at the bar. Determined to win Georgia’s trust and show her a good time, their no-strings evening promises to become so much more…until, that is, she discovers what he's really up to.
What a great premise! It sounds like a really fun story!
ReplyDeleteI like those ordinary heroes too :)
Thanks, Jemi! Ordinary heroes can be quite extraordinary, right?
DeleteThose internet dates offer up delicious stories!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! :)
DeleteSounds like a great story.
ReplyDeleteSo... who IS sexy dad? :)
Oh you must read it to find out! LOL
DeleteI've taken writing even further...it beats doing housework, cooking, etc.! I've learned if you write and make as much money as possible, you can take that extra money and pay someone to do all the stuff you hate to do. Well, I don't have a chef...but we certainly eat out more than we would if I didn't have extra $$$ from writing!
ReplyDeleteStephanie, so true! I'm so glad it's all working out for you :) Cleaning is a pain isn't it? Lol!
DeleteInteresting book. I definitely want to read it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rachna! Hope you're having a great day :)
DeleteSounds saucy! When I go to pick up my kids from school, all us parents look like zombies in sweats and jeans.
ReplyDeleteLOL Tamara! Same goes for me. Which is why I wanted to create a super hot dad so that character would take us to a happy place! Ha ;)
DeleteAwesome. Realistic character make for a strong bond with your audience, at least, that's how I feel about it.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Crystal! I so agree!
DeleteThis sounds like such a cute book! Sounds like things go terribly opposite of what the heroine wants -- which is how it should be! Adding to my TBR list. :)
ReplyDeleteAw. Thanks, Shelley! I like to make life (seemingly) hard to my characters ;)
DeleteI like ordinary characters more than the bigger-than-life ones.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great read.
Thanks, Medeia! To be honest, I enjoy reading about larger-than-life characters, too. I guess it depends on my mood, lol!
DeleteI liked the idea, so I checked the sample on Kindle last night. It was very good, so I got the whole thing, gonna finish it today. Love finding new authors I like!!
ReplyDeleteOh no!! What is Sexy Dad up to!??! Hope it's something lovely for Georgia! Yay! Take care

Yum! This book sounds great!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great title!! And it sounds like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteHa! I've run into hot water from writing about people I know. They recognized themselves and that has been rather embarrassing.
ReplyDeleteIntriguing premise.
