Hello Riya and Romance Reader Fans!
Thank you for having me here today, for a quickie interview.
So let’s get started....
What was your inspiration to write?
A few years ago I read 5-7 books a week. If you’d have looked up ravenous reader in the dictionary, you’d have seen a picture of me. (Well, not really. But you get my point.) As a result of all that reading, I quickly exhausted all the books written by my favorite authors. When I expanded my search to include new talent, I came across some (in my opinion) not so great books and thought ‘I can do better than that.’ And I set out to try.
Pros and Cons of writing time vs. family time.
Balancing family time and work time is a real struggle for me, and has been for years. You see, even before I started writing full time, I worked from my home office. When you work from home, your work is always there, taunting you. I’ll be watching an okay show on television and start to think ‘My time could be better spent working right now.’ And off I go to edit or write or mail out books or Facebook or Tweet. Often times I send my husband off on adventures with my youngest so I can have time to write. So often times I miss out on the fun activities they share. But I make sure to be around for the important stuff, band concerts and sports events, and to cuddle and go to the movies, and let my children know I love them every single day no matter what.
Are you a chick-flick, romantic comedy or action film girl?
Definitely chick-flick and romantic comedy. Some of my favorite movies: The Notebook, Dear John, The American President, A Walk to Remember, Chasing Liberty, Bridesmaids, Beauty and the Beast.
Who is your favorite romantic hero?
Well, the romantic hero on which all my heroes (to date) have been based is the ogle-worthy, lust-inducing, fantasy-inspiring Channing Tatum. Yum! But more than his looks, I love his ability to portray strong yet sensitive, caring men…like Kyle in my second Harlequin Medical Romance, Once a Good Girl…, available now!
Prim Victoria Forley’s perfect life changed forever the night she slept with Kyle Karlinsky, baddest boy in town. These days, single mum and uber-perfectionist nurse Victoria has goals that nothing – not even Kyle’s shocking reappearance! – can derail. But behind Victoria’s oh-so-frosty exterior is a heat that only Kyle can unleash… maybe it’s the right time to be with the wrong guy after all?

ReplyDeletePeople think working from home is so wonderful. And it is, mostly. But it comes with it's own set of problems!
Yes, Channing Tatum is my weakness. And he's in a lot of films right now!
Thanks for stopping by!
I can see all my lovely friends are having a ball chatting with you Wendy! Well...when the topic is Channing Tatum then who can resist?!
ReplyDeleteLacey you absolutely have to have the book with your name in the Special Thanks section! Imagine my surprise when I saw mum's name there as well!
Question for my friends, do you read the Dedications and Special Thanks section of a book you pick up?
Hi Wendy & Riya, sometimes I think working at home is more exhausting than going out to an office. The pressure is intense to get everything done.

Great interview, ladies! And 5-7 books a week? Wow!
ReplyDeletewow, 5-7 books a week is huge!
ReplyDeleteGreat interview.
My mouth is still hanging open at the 5-7 books a week! I love reading and wish I could get through more than I do, but there just don't seem enough hours in the week.
ReplyDeleteA great interview. Thank you.
Hi lovely Wendy and gorgeous romance reader!! I'm late for the party but fashionably so! LOL!
ReplyDeleteAnyway - 5-7 books a week is amazing!! I get to read 1 in erm.. three months minimum, I am that slow!!
Now I do like me some gorgeous bad but redeemable bad boys so I think Victoria there has her work cut out for her with Kyle!! I know she can do it though!! Take care
x
Hi Wendy, I love reading too and have been a five books a week girl. Not now, though. I usually read an ebook in my computer time and a 'real book' to relax. I recently finished and ebook but it had taken me a month to read it. I'll say this for ebooks, they don't take up much storage space.
ReplyDeleteI already won a copy of 'Once A Good Girl', thank you for that.
Hi Riya, hi Wendy. It's nice to find you here Wendy.
ReplyDeleteHmm...my favorite hero. You know it is my own character in The Treasures of Carmelidrium. Romance is a sub-plot. He is everything I love and then some. Oh, I know that doesn't help in your writing except that we all have those characteristics that attract us to a man.
Riya, I answered your genre question today. Or at least I tried. After a long illness I'm back.
Nancy
I love bad boy books. This sounds wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI love the last sentence of the blurb: maybe it's the right time to go with the wrong boy after all.
ReplyDeleteGreat interview! I find the same challenge in balancing family time with writing time. It's so hard to balance it all!
