I am ridiculously attached to my dogs. I mean crazily attached. I worry about them being alone too long if I have to go out. I fret about them when I'm away. In fact, I go up to other people's dogs and pat them because I can't bear to be dog-less! I went nuts in New York last year when I went to RWA. A man ( very cute hero type of man) was walking his toy poodles in Central Park. I rushed over to him like a madwoman and asked for a hug. Not from him - his cutesy little dogs! They gave me my lick fix and I was on my way.
My girls love doing tricks. They have about twenty tricks now and love performing. It's really increased our bond as they watch me like a hawk for the signal and then the treat when they get it right. I'm working on an obstacle course for them in the back garden. It takes a lot of patience to train a dog but that's what you need as a writer, too. Characters don't always jump through the hoops the way you would like them to. :)
My love of dogs shows up in my 50th book. There are three of them in there- Pickles, Chutney and Relish.

What adorable dogs!
ReplyDeleteCute blog Melanie. Congrats on your 50th book! What an achievement. I do have animals in my books but I wouldn't call them pets as I write fantasy: horses, wolves, hawks and bears so far. Where would we be without our animals?
ReplyDeleteSounds wonderfully romantic!
ReplyDeleteAnd I know what you mean about the dogs. I'm so in love with my labradoodle. I really miss him when I leave. He's my best buddy and more huggable than a teddy bear. :)
Love those doggies! Sounds like a great story, too~
ReplyDeleteThose dogs are cuties. 50 books? I didn't know that was possible. I'm impressed and wondering if I'd be more productive with a cute little poodle or two around.
