Rancher To The Rescue
Jilted at the altar, celebrity chef Meghan Finnegan flees the scene—and the baying press—only to run straight into the muscled torso of Cash Sullivan.
The former rodeo champion knows what it's like to have your life crumble in the spotlight, so he offers Meghan a place to lie low at his ranch.
Fresh air, no paparazzi and the brooding rancher's lazy smile are making Meghan not want to leave her sanctuary. But she and her unborn baby can't stay here forever...can they?

Hi. I’m so happy to be here. I wasn’t quite
sure what to talk about today, but then someone mentioned talking about my
hero. Well, I must confess that when I set out to write RANCHER TO THE RESCUE,
my main focus was on the heroine, Meghan Finnegan, and the predicament she
finds herself in at the altar of her hometown church with all of her family,
friends and paparazzi looking on. The hero, well at that point I hadn’t given
him much thought (sorry Cash). :-)
In fact, I wrote the entire church scene,
but it got cut. Still it gave me great insight into the heroine’s mixed-up bag
of emotions and the ensuing fiasco that has her hiking up her skirt and
hightailing it out of the church. Now mind you, Meghan Finnegan, is not just
your girl-next-door. She’s a celebrity chef. A rising television star. It was
going to take someone special to turn her head after being jilted at the altar.
She needs someone strong but caring.
Someone who will applaud her when she takes a stand on what she wants in life
but who will also give her an honest opinion when needed. Someone who will not
be threatened by her rising stardom.
Cue Cash’s entrance. He’s the strong,
silent type. But he spent his time in the harsh glow of the cameras as a
two-time World Champion Steer Wrestler. In fact, he’s dealt with the press
since his childhood. Some of it good. Most of it not so good. So he can totally
sympathize with Meghan needing to duck the paparazzi.
I’ve got to say that Cash was a tough nut
to crack. Though his past may be public knowledge amongst the rodeo groupies,
he wasn’t sharing it with me. It took quite a while until he opened up fully
about his tragic past that keeps him secluded on the Tumbling Weed Ranch with
just his ranch hands and his impetuous grandmother for company. He’s carved out a peaceful existence raising horses. And when
he starts to get lonely, he reminds himself that he’s not husband or father
material.
Meghan and Cast have large obstacles to
overcome, but I love how they help each other grow. I hope you’ll enjoy their
journey too.

Thanks Tina! :-)
DeleteI think I would have enjoyed reading the church scene, but I do understand that not every scene can make it into a story. RANCHER TO THE RESCUE does sound fabulous.
ReplyDeleteMary, I was sad to cut it...BUT on the plus side I got to start with the yummy hero. So it was a win. ;-) Hope you get a chance to check it out.
DeleteSounds like a terrific book, and I have a feeling that "impetuous grandmother" adds an interesting flavor to the story, too.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with it, Jennifer!
Susan, that grandma was something else. She could have easily had her own book. LOL. But then again Cash and Meghan were a lot of fun to write about. And what's a book without romance???
DeleteThanks for stopping by! :-)
