Last summer my family and I spent time on a Mediterranean cruise ship.  It was a fabulous holiday – visiting a different port every day and spending the evenings on a luxurious boat.

One thing really impressed me – the state of the art medical facilities available.  These ships really are floating cities on the sea.  It made me wonder about the staff and their relationships.  The crew members seemed to be from all over the world, our waiter was from Indonesia and worked on the ship to send money home to his family.  He loved his job, even though he said his quarters weren’t the best!

Scarlet's hero inspiration-David Gandy
When I came home I was inspired to write a medical cruise ship romance.  I pictured in my head my perfect hero and who came to mind?  David Gandy ( in a state of undress of course!).  I pinned this picture on my wall as I was writing the story and every time I needed a little inspiration all I had to do was look up!

This book is number six for me with Mills and Boon Medicals but I still feel as if I just got The Call yesterday.  I’ve written another three that are due for publication and am just about to start number ten – part of a new continuity series.

If you’d like to win a copy of my cruise ship book just tell me where you’d like to visit on a cruise ship.  Nas will pick a winner and I’m happy to send the book anywhere in the world!

AN INESCAPABLE TEMPTATION

Running from her past…she bumped into her future!

Nurse Francesca Cruz has taken a job on a cruise ship bound for the Mediterranean—the perfect retreat from her break-up—except she finds herself trapped with gorgeous but arrogant doctor Gabriel Russo.

She knows his type well: that devastating smile, those come-to-bed eyes and that easy charm. She won’t be tempted twice.

But with nowhere to escape—except overboard—and her delicious boss lying in the next cabin it’s easier said than done!

  1. It is a great idea to set a story on a cruise ship. It's the fastest growing means of travel. I imagine there's plenty of storylines happening every day. Having taken a cruise yourself no doubt it has more 'truth' in it. I hope it sells well. Wow, you write fast!

    2. Hi Denise, I don't feel as if I write fast at all! I write 1000 words every day at lunch time - I still work fulltime and have two young sons who have activities every night of the week. It's the only way I can fit it in. But it's amazing how quickly it adds up. I just don't allow myself any excuses not to do it! Unfortunately the doctor on my cruise ship did not look like David Gandy!

    2. I've taken my kids on two cruises now and loved them both. My fears about them falling overboard appeared unfounded but my beloved and I did have a interesting conversation when I caught my 7 year old standing on a table on our balcony, trying to reach the ceiling because "he could". Kids!!

  3. Hi Nas .. love the photo of Scarlet and her family .. I sort of dither about a cruise - would I enjoy it (or not!) ..

Now Mills and Boon Medicals - I hadn't realised they had other 'ranges' ... what a great position to be for Scarlet to utilise for book sales.

Interesting post - thanks .. cheers and Happy Easter ... Hilary

    1. Hi Hilary - mills and boon medicals cover just about everything you can ever think of! My last two books were about the White House Medical Unit and my next two are based on the CDC in Atlanta. Medicals are all around us - whether we know it or not!

The important thing for me when we picked our cruise was the ports we would be visiting. I love to sightsee - I'm not a lie-by-the-pool kind of gal. Best trip was Chaeteau d'If - where the Count of Monte Cristo was based. Fabulous!

    1. Suzanne, glamour for me is having someone else make the breakfast, lunch and dinner. Oh, and the laundry service - I got all my holiday clothes washed and ironed for £14. The first time I've ever come back from holiday without mounds of washing!
