Intro: Lynne Marshall, Falling for the Mom-to-Be #Giveaway

This week's Intro on Author is on Lynne Marshall and her latest release, Falling For The Mom-To-Be. And there's a giveaway as well!

Make friends with Lynne Marshall on Facebook!

Intro-  I'm the author of Five Harlequin Special Editions (Current June book out now) and my 19th and 20th contemporary romance series books are Harlequin Medical Romances and will be out as a Cowboys, Doctors and Daddies 2-in-1 this coming October. Titles - Hot-Shot Doc, Surprise Father and Father for Her New-Born Baby.I've also written three single title romances originally published with The Wild Rose Press, but now two of them are self-published.

My Life-  A Southern California native, Lynne and has been happily married for a looooong time. She is a proud mother of a grown daughter and son.  She is also a dog lover, a cat admirer, a woman of faith, a meandering walker, a curious traveler, and an avid reader, but most of all, she is a writer, and is very happy about that.

Influences- All literature influences me, but specifically to romance my
first discoveries were Barbara Delinsky, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Linda
Howard, and, of course, Nora Roberts.  There are also countless other
authors in the romance genre that I read and adore, too many to name,
and many of them I'm happy to call friends.

How I write- I get my ideas all over the place.  Sometimes I'll store it away and it might be two years before the right observation fits the current book I'm writing. I guess you could call me a PLANTSER - (a plotter and a pantser) because I loosely plot and see where that leads while I write. I'm always surprised by where the story takes me. I start with the two main characters and what their conflicts will be.  Then I write a synopsis to guide me and keep me on track as I write the book.  I write 1-2K a day when I'm working on a new book, then the next morning go back and read, edit and color in what I've put down the day before, then move on to new words. By the time I've turned in the book to my editor, I've made at least three passes through every page.  I ALWAYS get revisions and most of the time I "get it" (what the editor is saying needs to be fixed) and can make the changes easily.  Sometimes it takes more than one round of revisions.  Yes, even now!

Motivation- (why you write?) These days I write because I have contracts.  LOL In the beginning, I had what I call a late midlife crisis and discovered I needed to write a book.  I had a story burning to get out.  It took a year, and I was thrilled to see that I could complete my story.  The whole journey was one of discovery (mostly about how much I didn't know about writing!), learning craft for the next several years joining writer groups and critique groups, learning to take critiques and putting them to good use etc.  Life and love motivate me to tell all these "strangers'" stories.  And contracts. I'm definitely motivated by contracts. lol

Your Book- Falling for the Mom-to-Be Book #3 in the Home in Heartlandia trilogy.
KEEP CALM AND…HAVE A BABY?

Leif Andersen wants to be alone. Everyone in Heartlandia knows about his
tragic past and they allow him to keep to himself. With his blue eyes
and blond hair, the rugged workaholic contractor might be an "excellent
catch." But he has zero interest in being caught…until Marta Hoyas
moves into his house while she is working for him.

Marta wants to be alone. Her baby's father dumped her. The last thing
she needs is a romantic entanglement with a gorgeous guy who can offer
no promises.

Leif and Marta want each other. All that stands between them is the
past…and the future. And a little baby who could give them both what
they need most!

    1. Hi Meradeth, I'm glad you can relate to my term Plantser. No matter how much I plan, either my story or my characters take me in different directions. I just have to go with it!

  8. I don't think I've ever read a romance that involved a pregnant woman. Sounds intriguing! I'll have to check it out.

Good luck, Lynne. Not that you need "luck" with your writing career. Sounds like you're already quite the prolific writer, and you can't slow down, because there's that pesky little contract to consider... :)

  9. Hi Susan - well, I'm glad you find the concept of a pregnant woman in romance intriguing. These books are written all the time in category, but the tricky part is I've made the hero NOT the father. Making that believable is hard work! If you do check out the book, I'd love to hear your thoughts. :)

  10. Lynne's book looks marvelous. I plot, but I don't strictly stick to my outline and will change it many times as I get to know the characters and as situations don't turn out the way I first thought they would.

    1. Hi Medeia!
Nice to see you here. I know exactly what you mean about plotting with the best of intentions, but never being able to strictly stick to the outline. It's impossible, isn't it? Those darn characters take over the story and, well, we have to follow them, right?

    1. Hello fellow So Cal native Robyn - Thanks for your kind wishes. It is definitely tricky to write a pregnant heroine!
P.S. Are you in Canada yet? :)

  13. Love "plantser." Perfect. I love that moment when the character slashes a red pen across an outline and takes off in a direction I never saw coming.

    1. Hi Leslie! Yes, I love that moment, too. Things always get exciting at that moment for the author, and hopefully for the reader too.
